the Author

Lynn Givens, M.Ed., has been teaching struggling readers for over 40 years. She is a teacher trainer, curriculum developer, higher education instructor, and professional development expert.

 

Lynn served as the Director of Intervention at the Florida Center for Reading Research in Tallahassee. There, she worked with Dr. Joseph Torgesen to develop and implement intervention programs for struggling readers in Florida. As a professor at Florida State University's School of Teacher Education in Panama City, Lynn taught  foundational reading courses for pre-teachers.

Lynn is also the author of "Phonics Games for Fluency" and the book "Essential Grammar Skills: Why, What, & How to Teach: A Structural Approach".

Lynn served as an online course developer and facilitator for Orton Gillingham Online Academy.

 

Connect to Comprehension was developed in 2009 as a response to Florida school districts needing a more intensive approach to help struggling readers.
